East Sussex Pension Fund is part of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) which is a national pension scheme for people working in local government or working for other employers that participate in the scheme.
The LGPS is one of the largest pension schemes in the UK. It is a defined benefit pension scheme which means your pension is based on your salary and how long you pay into the Scheme. Your pension is not affected by how well investments perform. The LGPS provides you with a secure and guaranteed income every year when you stop working.
East Sussex County Council run the Fund in their capacity as administering authority. The Fund is worth approximately £5 billion pounds. We have around 140 employers and 85,000 members. 25,000 are contributing members, 25,000 are members who have left and not yet drawn benefits and 35,000 are pensioners. Note: Figures as at April 25 and approximate.
The Fund has been a regular name in industry awards, seen as a mark of excellence in the field of pensions provision in the LGPS.
The scheme is a valuable part of your pay and reward package. Some of the reasons you might want to join are detailed here, along with answers to some frequently asked questions.
