What is an Investment Strategy Statement?
An ISS is a policy that details how the Fund’s assets are invested.
This includes:
- Setting out what our investment objectives and beliefs are,
- how we allocate money to different types of assets, and
- how environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors are considered.
It also explains how decisions are governed, how performance is monitored, and how implementation is overseen, including pooling arrangements with our pooling partner, Border to Coast Pensions Partnership.
Why has it changed?
In June 2026, the Government published new guidance on preparing and maintaining an Investment Strategy Statement. The revised framework introduced new requirements relating to investment objectives, risk management, stewardship, ESG considerations, and local investment priorities. The updated guidance also places greater emphasis on the relationship between LGPS funds and their Pools.
To reflect these changes, East Sussex Pension Fund has reviewed and updated its ISS, to ensure that it continues to support the long-term interests of the Funds members and employers.
